Status this week
The move (20 Jul) and BRP registration (22 Jul) have happened. Gloria's KvK registration is in progress today, and Gloria has been confirmed naturalised — she now holds a Dutch passport and BSN. This closes the KOT blocker flagged earlier today and retires the entire IND residence-permit fallback route. See rev 12 below.
Rev 12 update (19 Aug 2026, same day) — blocker closed: Gloria naturalised
Pieter confirms Gloria is naturalised — Dutch passport and BSN in hand. This fully closes this morning's KOT blocker: the non-EU spouse residence-status test (and both its exceptions) never applies to a Dutch national, so the 30 Sep-vs-~10 Oct collision is moot, not just resolved in time. It also resolves the long-standing dual-track question — Scenario A has won: the entire IND residence-permit fallback route (Workstream 03, rows N1–N11) is retired, N-A. Recommended action: submit the toddler's childcare-benefit application as soon as the remaining small items are confirmed — BSN for Pieter and both children, the childcare registration number on the September invoice, and the budget team's income figures. One narrow, non-blocking item remains: the exact date naturalisation took effect.
Rev 11 update (19 Aug 2026, morning) — KOT application readiness + blocker (superseded same day by rev 12 above)
Gloria's KvK registration ("eenmanszaak", ZZP) is in progress today — KvK-number issued on the spot, VAT number follows separately (10 working days–4 weeks, not needed for KOT). First September childcare invoice received; Pieter pre-finances it, no benefit offset yet. Blocker flagged at the time: the toeslagpartner exception that lets a non-EU spouse qualify for childcare benefit while a residence-permit application is pending only applies once that application actually exists — and the recommended IND submission date (~10 Oct) fell after the toddler's benefit safety-margin deadline (30 Sep). Resolved same day — see rev 12 above.
Rev 7 update (10 May 2026) — douane-expediteur for accompanied baggage. New row L7 added in §04 Moving logistics: engage a Dutch customs broker (douane-expediteur) for the verhuisboedel-vrijstelling declaration on accompanied baggage HK→AMS (flight 20 Jul), separate from the L1 sea-freight container declaration. Shortlist of 3 candidates delivered: Baggage.nl / Cavalier Logistics (Schiphol-South, best fit, ~EUR 200–400 estimated), Jac. Goenee Douane-Expediteur (Utrecht, ~EUR 250–500), KHZ Movers / AGS (Alphen, marginal fit). Two-track frame: engage a broker if accompanied-baggage value exceeds ~EUR 5k or contains any item above EUR 1,500; otherwise self-declare via the red channel at AMS arrivals (free, half a day worst case per Douane guidance). (3) N2 apostille on Canadian birth cert: verified still required — Canada joined the Hague Apostille Convention on 11 January 2024, so apostille (not consular legalisation) is the correct form, but it is still mandatory for IND + BRP. Rev 6 update (7 May 2026) — Pieter 2-update batch. (1) Health insurance for spouse + children (FBTO Basis) moved from §05 Insurance/Mila to §07 Health (row H6); selection already made, activation tied to BSN issuance post-BRP. New row T1-Pieter added in §05 to track Pieter's own NL zorgverzekering selection (still open; Mila cross-flag retained).
